The Århus mask, (Odin's mask) from the rune stone found in the foundation of Århus' old water mill in Mølleparken 1850. On the stone was also the following inscription with runes: "Gunulv and Øgot and Aslak and Rolf erected this stone for their comrade, Ful. He found death ... when kings fought”. It is supposed to represent a gryle, which is a ghostly creature, and the base for the Aarhus mask was probably made of leather and used by spirit-mancers in the late Viking Age approx. year 1000. The stone is in the Moesgård Museum.
